Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster Screenshots Detail Visual Improvements |
|
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster may not be the cutting edge racing game many were expecting this year. With next-gen consoles releasing in November, many racing game fans were hoping for Gran Turismo 7 or the latest Forza game. But Electronic Arts is doing work to change some minds. The publisher recently shared an assortment of new screenshots from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster. The screenshots compare the updated version of the racing game to the original version of the game. The screenshots depict some of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster's racing at standard resolution with max settings. Both are capture from the PC versions of the respective games. EA has previously detailed some of the changes being made to the game. Interested gamers should look out for higher-quality car models, environmental reflections on the cars, as well as overall improved lighting. EA has selected its screenshots to best show off these features. RELATED: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Was First Entry in Series to Use Real Cars for Data There are four sets of comparison screenshots in total. The first is in bright light in a setting with a lot of environmental clutter. It shows how the developers have added objects to the environment, but also how the draw distance has improved so there's more on-screen at one time. The second set similarly shows added details, with more barrels, signage, and trees. The third set features much darker lighting, showing off improved visibility, as better shadow effects. The last seems specifically designed to show how dramatically better shadows are in the remaster. n4s hot pursuit set 4 screenshots n4s hot pursuit set 3 screenshots n4s hot pursuit set 2 screenshots n4s hot pursuit set 1 screenshots In other words, this is a great chance for prospective buyers of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster to see whether the game's been updated enough to be worth a purchase. The game was originally released 10 years ago, after all. And while it was a hit at the time, winning a variety of awards for Best Racing Game, 10 years is a long time. Some believe EA is releasing these screenshots specifically in response to criticism of the game since its announcement. Comparison footage of early Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster gameplay was made by Youtubers, which went viral. The footage, as well as the commentary surrounding it, was not particularly complimentary of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster. Even if it's not a spectacular visual overhaul, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster isn't without an upside. It's still an opportunity to revisit one of the best games of 2010, a racing game that fans still recall fondly even a decade later. It'll also have cross-platform play and multiplayer added, as EA has promised. And, considering how bleak the racing game genre release schedule is otherwise, it's there when racing game fans need it. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster releases November 6 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, followed by a November 13 launch on Switch. |

ThisIsBalkan on 21.05.2024 19:13I dont think the problem lies with developing the technology especially when you have Microsoft contributing to this (and they're the software experts) but rather how does AMD integrate this technology into their hardware and possibly reach out to more developers than Nvidia do with their proprietary DLSS? Is it easier to implement than DLSS? Is it more efficient? If the answer to both is yes then AMD's solution will edge out and create the bigger ecosystem of open-source AI assisted image upscaling technology leading to less developers being reliant on DLSS. |

NEVIOUS on 21.05.2024 19:132. DirectML is intended to be a per engine or per developer implementation with neural networks if you want to get DLSS results. In short, not even Unreal Engine can likely easily achieve any meaningful results chasing this goal in a short period of time (it would probably take then 3-6 years without the right assistance) to get anywhere meaningful with this. Thus the only hope is someone at scale, such as AMD or Nvidia, implementing it and making it available for others. DLSS already exists so this just leaves AMD. AMD has a track record of poor R&D efforts regarding such technologies. In fact, almost all of their technologies were acquired via 3rd parties. In addition, Nvidia is a world leader in AI and it took even them some time to reach this point. AMD is not. AMD also has a history of poorly supporting its technologies and low quality results due to this, if not outright abandoning them at some point shortly after making them available. AMD did create Mantle, which died, but did set a foundation for both DirectX and even more so Mantle which were clear step forwards for the industry so they deserve credit for at least this partial accomplishment. |
